ABOUT ABOUT

Students from all over the Hillsborough County area are coming together to perform in a
benefit performance for the charity Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. They will be performing both
musical and dramatic scenes that have been awarded a rating of “superior” at the district level, and
that will be going on to state competition in March 2013.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry-based,
nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organizations. By drawing upon the
talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988
BC/EFA has raised more than $225 million for essential services for people with AIDS
and other critical illnesses across the United States.

Broadway Cares awards annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service
organizations nationwide and is the major supporter of the social service programs at
The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s
Health Initiative, the Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic, The Dancers’ Resource and the
Stage Managers’ Project.

The Florida State Thespian organization collects and donates money to Broadway Cares every year.
The thespians of District 9 are trying to be the top donor in the state for this school year, and they
need YOUR help!

“All proceeds from this event will go directly to Broadway Cares. This showcase is such a great way
to bring our fellow thespians together in a collaborative environment to do what we love for an
awesome cause,” says Emily DiMonaco – a senior musical theatre student at Howard W. Blake
School of the Arts who has put the entire program together
